Shiftscale
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
The game's prologue contains explicit, adult content.
There is an option to skip this scene if you desire. Regardless, this game is intended for 18+ audiences.
Axel is almost ready to go.
They have their bags packed and weighed, their tickets in easy-access for boarding, and their documents organized and accounted for.
In one day, they will be on the plane to a new life.
They just need to keep it together, and say their goodbyes.
How hard could that be?
Shiftscale is a love letter to those who feel a little lost navigating how to love, in every sense of the word. When it feels like it's harder to maintain a relationship than it is to lose it.
It is a project designed for the Love + Attraction Jam 2025. Any mistakes are likely due to this being my absolute first game ever made. Please enjoy it anyways, and let me know if you catch any of these mess-ups, so I may correct them. Otherwise, the game is complete.

This is a seriously impressive work for it being your first game ever. Equal parts nerdy and heartfelt, it so perfectly captures the feeling of friendship in this digital age and threads it through with really pretty prose. The medium was used to incredible effect with the photo manipulations, sprite movements, text cut-ins, and switching between novel and text box modes to make everything hit that perfect bittersweet nostalgic note with hope for the future.
Absolutely loved it, despite a few areas where the transitions could be smoother or the context could be slightly clarified. Everything just works so beautifully to carry the tone and intent perfectly, incredible job. Brought me to tears, which I think is the mark of good storytelling. Keep it up!
This was a pretty cool vn, I like the stretching effect during the stressful situation in the background
it hurts to feel forgotten, even more so to make the decision to leave on behalf of another. running from the hurt we caused only causes more hurt, and i think the vn articulates that beautifully. short and sweet and leaves you enough time to text someone you miss
